Under the theme “Towards a Green Operating Room,” the Operating Room Committee of Hôtel-Dieu de France successfully organized the 7th edition of Operating Room Day.
The day was officially inaugurated by the General Director of the Hospital Network, Mr. Nassib Nasr, accompanied by the Head of the Operating Room, Prof. Samia Jbara, and Prof. Jane Muret from the Institut Curie in Paris.
This hybrid event brought together experts from various hospitals in Lebanon and abroad, including the Institut Curie (Paris), CHPG Monaco, Sainte-Musse Hospital (Toulon), the Territorial Hospital Center of New Caledonia, AP-HP in Paris, and the Chemistry Department of Saint Joseph University of Beirut.
This year’s edition focused on the environmental impacts of the healthcare sector and on environmental management in healthcare facilities. Other key topics included waste and single-use material management in the operating room, oxygen therapy, gas recovery, pre-filled syringes, equipment sterilization, and green transformation methodologies.
A roundtable and a Q&A session allowed participants to share best practices, discuss field challenges, explore future perspectives, and strengthen collective commitment.
To conclude the event, the Green Operating Room Charter was signed, symbolizing the shared commitment to reducing the environmental impact of operating rooms.
