The Palliative Care Unit of Hôtel-Dieu de France organized a scientific day under the theme Palliative Care: Renewed Practices and Reflections.”

Several distinguished figures attended the event, including Prof. Salim Daccache S.J., Rector of USJ and Chairman of the Board of Directors of HDF; Mr. Nassib Nasr, Director of the HDF-USJ Hospital Network; Dr. Pierre Anhoury, Advisor to the Minister of Public Health; Prof. Rima Sassine, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences; and Prof. Eliane Ayoub, Vice-Dean of the USJ Faculty of Medicine.

Throughout the day, professionals and practitioners from Hôtel-Dieu de France addressed several key topics, such as the role of palliative care in pulmonology and nephrology, the management of refractory pain and bowel obstruction, the indication of palliative chemotherapy, the place of antibiotic therapy in palliative care, the importance of nutrition at the end of life, as well as supporting bereavement in children and approaching the subject of death.

This encounter offered an opportunity to exchange insights on current practices and to reflect on new approaches to enhance the quality of palliative care, while keeping the patient and their family at the heart of all considerations.
