Non-invasive ventilation through the Helmet

Non-invasive ventilation is currently considered as an essential technique for the management of patients with acute or chronic respiratory insufficiency. Patient comfort plays a major role in the success of this therapy and depends largely on the choice of interface. In order to improve the tolerance of non-invasive ventilation, a transparent ventilation helmet is developed to ensure patient comfort.

This helmet allows a good adaptation with less leakage regardless of the morphology of the patient, to give the patient the possibility to communicate with people outside, and to isolate the patients with pulmonary infection, in this case the Covid-19 patients, thus ensuring the protection of the nursing staff.

This technique is developed at HDF for patients in the floor and in reanimation under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Unit of the Pulmonology and Critical Care Department.
