Under the high patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser El Dine, the Urology Department organized a day of exchange and innovation under the theme “Together Against Prostate Cancer.” The event was held at the auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, within the Raymond & Aida Najjar Building.

The opening session took place in the presence of Prof. Elie Nemer, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at USJ, Mr. Nassib Nasr, Director General of the USJ-HDF Hospital Network, and Prof. Elias Chelala, President of the Lebanese Order of Physicians.

The day brought together speakers from Lebanon and abroad, representing various specialties, to explore major advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. The scientific sessions addressed several essential topics, including updates to the National Cancer Plan, the management of PI-RADS 3 lesions, biopsy indications, criteria for active surveillance, and the expanding applications of artificial intelligence in urology.

The first successful procedures performed by the Urology Department at Hôtel-Dieu using the Versius robot from Cambridge Medical Robotics were also presented and reviewed.

Other key topics were discussed, such as the management of biochemical recurrence after local treatment, therapeutic strategies for mHSPC and mCRPC stages, the management of oligometastatic disease, as well as the indications and interpretation of genetic testing in prostate cancer.

This day, rich in scientific content and interdisciplinary exchange, highlighted the importance of innovation and collaboration in improving the quality of care and the future of prostate cancer management in Lebanon.
